Open the installer and follow the instructions. Origin is designed to keep itself up-to-date. This means when you log in to Origin, it’ll automatically update to the newest version. Basically if u go inside the store directly from ur comp and cant find the app or game u want to download then u wont be able to download it at all. Why Wont Origin Download Onto My Macbook Air
Hey everyone, lococableguy67
I recently posted about my BF3 not working on my Desktop but working fine on my Laptop. I had to uninstall Origin and all my games on my account due to it not working properly. Now, after uninstalling everything, when I download Origin, install it and once its complete, I double click the origin icon to open it up and it says 'The item 'Origin.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly.. Do you want to delete this shortcut?' This is getting pretty damn frustrating not being able to play Bf3. First it wouldnt play after Origin updates and now that I was forced to uninstall it and it wont work once I reinstall it. What the bloody hell is going on with this thing? ANy help with this would be greatly appreciated as I'd very much like to get playing again on my Desktop.

Go to computer, then un-install everything Origin (except your game saves if they're on there), then re-install and run as admin. That should help..

I already did that, like 12983183 times, I keep getting the same error over and over and over... I noticed that when its done installing origin it automatically downloads the latest updates which I believe that might be doing it somehow. After the update ends and I go to open Origin I get that error. I also tried cancelling the update and then opening origin again and it goes to update, it updates I go to run as administrator and get the error that I dont have the adminstrator privileges or some crap when I do and than once I close the error the origin.exe icon disappears from the file so I can no longer open it...
Any other suggestions that might work??? Anyone? Why Wont Origin Download Onto My Macbook PropippiLstocking

I've had this problem before and as cable guy mentioned you have to do a complete Uninstall of Origin, not just the 'uninstall' utility, but actually manually deleting your origin folder, and all the registry keys related to origin, this is a comprehensive guide, make sure to back up your registry!!! Rezner
To manually uninstall Origin, you will need to edit your system registry and remove the folders in a two-part process. This will remove all traces of Origin from your system. Origin players on Mac systems should click here for MacOS Manual Uninstallation steps. NOTE: If you remove Origin, you will lose accessibility and playability to any downloaded games and manuals until you reinstall Origin. Remember that editing your computer's registry or files incorrectly can severely damage your operating system. We recommend having a computer professional perform these steps. If you are confident, however, that you can edit your registry successfully, then please follow the instructions below carefully. Remove the Origin program files: From the Start menu, select Computer. Select the hard drive; by default, Origin is installed on the C: drive. Select the Program Files folder; on 64bit systems, this will be called Program Files (x86). Right-click the Origin folder and select Delete. Backup the Windows registry: Hold down the Windows key and press R. At the Run command, type regedit and select OK. Select File, then Export. Under Export Range, select All. Choose a location and name for the backup file, then select Save. Remove the Origin registry keys: Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder. Expand the SOFTWARE folder. On 64bit systems, expand the Wow6432node folder. Right-click the Origin folder and select Delete. Expand the Microsoft folder. Expand the Windows folder. Expand the CurrentVersion folder. Expand the Uninstall folder. Right-click the Origin folder and select Delete. Remove the Origin program cache: From the Start menu, select Computer. Select the C: drive. Select the ProgramData folder. If this folder does not appear, press Alt, select Tools, then Folder Options. Select the View tab, then check Show hidden files, folders, and drives. Right-click the Origin folder and select Delete. Origin has now been completely removed from your system.

I appreciate the help about the registry stuff, etc, but the thing is, I did it already. Again, Once everything was off my system, I re-downloaded Origin, installed it and tried to run it and got that error again. I installed it again and cancelled the update and seemed to get a little further but when I went to open the exe again, I got a different error saying I didn't have the administrator rights whatever blah blah when I do. Again, Ive tried basically every step possible of removing origin, downloading origin, installing origin, running origin and not a single thing works. Im lost on what to do about it...the only other thing I might have to do is to format my hardrive and reinstall everything. Now that's a damn crying shame if I have to do that just to get the damn thing to work...

On one occasion, that I had the same problem as you: Rezner
I did the complete uninstall of origin, including the registry entries. But after that , this is what i did: make sure it was completely gone (check your registry, make sure it is really gone) empty the recycle bin Shutdown the pc restarted pc DID NOT INSTALL Origin Did a System Restore (you should have a restore point before you had the problem) automatic shut down/restart wait for 'system has been restored succesfully' then downloaded Orign again, and it worked. (when it asks 'do you want to install the system update tool' , say yes and let it do it's thing, even if it is several minutes. do not interrupt this process. I've found that in my years of being a pc owner, sometimes shut down/restart are integral, even for what seem to be really simple software changes. System Restore works wonders sometimes.

Rezner said: yea I dont like system restore , unless necessary, but it sure beats reformatting All pcs at some point do something stupid, and all it takes is one corrupt line somewhere to keep the loop going that's why I always do the restart shutdown thing, it's saved me alot of hassle.
